Course Outline

The Marketing, Public Relations & Web Design PLC Course gives students the essential skills required to develop a career in PR or Marketing and to enhance their knowledge in other career areas such as customer service and web development. The mix of theory and practical learning allows the student to gain the knowledge required to perform the duties of a Marketing assistant or PR practitioner, from writing press releases and designing newsletters to engaging in social media and online PR. Software used includes MS word, MS Access, QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver.


Work Experience

Work experience takes place one day per week throughout the academic year in local Marketing and PR companies.

Regular speakers from renowned Galway companies including H&A Marketing, Mint Digital Marketing & Event Solutions Ireland. Computer Software, Microsoft Applications, Adobe Photoshop, QuarkXpress.

Entry Requirements

QQI Level 4, minimum of 17 years of age at time of registration, Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied, Equivalent qualifications from other countries, relevant life experiences, relevant work experiences and mature students.

Course Modules

To equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the administration requirements of a range of organisations to enable the learner to operate effectively under supervision in a variety of administration contexts.
The aim of this module is to equip the learner with the understanding of the value of the customer service discipline as well as knowledge and skills to provide effective customer service within a work, social or voluntary environment, operating independently or as part of a team.
Using Microsoft Access, Learn how to create and modify databases under limited supervision.
The aim of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to produce a range of documents containing text and graphic images from design briefing to printing, using a Desktop Publishing (DTP) system.
The aim of this module is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skills and competence to operate effectively in a range of marketing related contexts using the principles and concepts underpinning marketing practice.
This module aims to educate the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the role, functions and techniques of Public Relations within a range of contexts.
Learn how to construct, test and maintain a range of webpages and sites using HTML CSS and Adobe Dreamweaver.
This programme module aims to provide a Learner with the personal knowledge, skills and capacity to participate in a suitable work placement under supervision for a limited time. It will also facilitate the learner to develop an understanding of the world of work and employment, Including the rights and responsibilities of both employer and employee.
