The Motor Technology QQI Level 5 course prepares graduates for a career in the Motor Trade and gives them the opportunity to further their education in an Institute of Technology. Students will work with different technologies and applications associated with engineering in a comfortable and safe environment.

Work experience takes place one day per week throughout the academic year. It will boost your confidence and develop new capabilities that will help you decide on and plan for a future career in a more realistic and informed way.
The majority of our graduates either get an apprenticeship, enter college or go straight to employment. You will be taught many processes at your own learning pace. In the engineering area there will be electric arc, mig and gas welding. in machining you will learn milling, drilling lathework and metal fabrication. There are only 3 end of year written examinations. All other assessments are carried out throughout the year.
QQI Level 4, minimum of 17 years of age at time of registration, Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied, Equivalent qualifications from other countries, relevant life experiences, relevant work experiences and mature students.

This course prepares graduates to become an apprentice motor vehicle mechanics, heavy machinery mechanic, service reception, parts personnel, motor vehicle electrician, motor vehicle sales. It also prepares graduates to enter directly into the work force and apply for employment.
I have found this course very useful in gaining the experience in carrying out tasks on motor cars. Students are given clear and descriptive instructions in one to one situations in all modules by all teachers. They go out of their way to ensure the students acheive their full potential.
