This course is designed to give the student the training required to service the sport & leisure industry. Participants develop a high level of knowledge in physical fitness, coaching and team management. On Successful completion of Level 5 course, students are eligible to apply for The Certificate in Exercise & Health Fitness (Level 6 CEHF)

Work experience takes place throughout the academic year in a variety of centres and enterprises offering sport and recreation activities.
This course provides the student with the opportunity to work with local gyms and leisure centres. Students will gain experience in the areas of fitness testing, programme development, class instruction, health and safety and the general day to day running of a gym or leisure centre. Links developed here may benefit the student in their vocational area.
Students also benefit from participation in a wide range of sporting activities during the year including soccer blitz, sports day, hill walking, sea kayaking and other outdoor recreation activities.
These courses are available for an additional cost dependent on student numbers and attainment.
Students must have completed all course requirements and have a minimum attendance to be eligible to apply.
QQI Level 4, minimum of 17 years of age at time of registration, Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied, Equivalent qualifications from other countries, relevant life experiences, relevant work experiences and mature students.

The Course offered a wide range of activities that helped develop both my social and academic skills. The course also gave me the chance to have my voice heard and share my views, opinions and aspirations.
