This course will provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work independently and under supervision providing administration services and support in a range of office information processing contexts, and/or to progress to further and/or higher level studies. It will give the learner an appreciation for the growing impact of the internet on business and society, and to recognise the changes caused by information technology on work practices and employment patterns.
The learner will explore Information Processing with a view to re-skilling/up-skilling and exploring concepts and subject areas that may stimulate the interest of the learner in future programmes or employment and to offer the learner the opportunity to develop creative and problem solving skills.
Software packages used on this course include Microsoft Office, Powerpoint, Excel and Access, TAS Books, Dreamweaver, Quark Express Version 8 and Photoshop CS4.
Work experience takes place one day per week throughout the academic year in the IT sector.

QQI Level 4, minimum of 17 years of age at time of registration, Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied, Equivalent qualifications from other countries, relevant life experiences, relevant work experiences and mature students.
