To provide students with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of information and communications technology
and practical typing and audio secretarial skills required in the performance of a broad range of administrative, secretarial and organizational tasks. Excellent career opportunities and further education advancements for successful graduates.
Work experience takes place one day per week throughout the academic year in local offices where future contacts with prospective employers can be established.
Learn to use a wide range of office technology confidently including Tas Books, Database and Internet, and develop speed in accurate typing. Enhance communication & presentation skills using Powerpoint and Data projectors.
Regular visits and presentations from HR departments from large businesses, banks and others from the local business sector.

QQI Level 4, minimum of 17 years of age at time of registration, Leaving Certificate/Leaving Certificate Applied, Equivalent qualifications from other countries, relevant life experiences, relevant work experiences and mature students.

The holder of a QQI Level 5 Certification may progress to a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Administration, complete Pitman Medical Secretary Diploma, Business Administration Course, Business in Computer Applications in GMIT.
Opportunities open to students who did not achieve the desired Leaving Certificate to allow entry to your desired course from the CAO system, you can have the opportunity to achieve up to 400 points in a PLC Legal Secretary/Medical Secretary or Business Administration and Office Technology Course and gain access to 3rd Level or for mature students who did not complete a Leaving Certificate to gain access to 3rd Level. You will be equipped with typing skills, audio transcription skills, proficiency in various software packages, training on the completion of assignments and projects at a professional level, effective communication skills and collaborative work.
Having qualified with a Legal Secretary/Medical Secretary or Business Administration and Office Technology Course QQI Level 5 you can gain employment as a Legal Secretary in a Solicitors Office, Medical Secretary in a Hospital, Doctors Office, Clerical Officer in the Public Service, Receptionist, Office Administrator in Hotels, employment in office administration positions in businesses and multinational companies.
